Aquatech BioeEnergy, LLC is a cutting edge research company defining new ways to generate sustainable and renewable energy from plants.
Sago growing in BioReactors (growth ponds) under special conditions can be induced to secrete ethanol directly into the surrounding water where it is harvested and purified with our proprietary EVAC system. Harvesting of the accumulated biomass for livestock feed is also possible. Our research identifies specific populations of Sago Pondweed and other aquatic macrophytes, and defines the laboratory conditions under which growth and ethanol production is maximized. Genetically pure strains are propagated, and environmental controls (light, temperature, nutrients, etc.) are optimized for best growth.
Once the optimal conditions are identified in the laboratory, they are scaled up to work in the large BioReactor growth systems for more intense “farming”.
The BioReactors are fully enclosed and can be controlled for many variables, including light, temperature, gases and pH. The aquatic nature of Sago, and its extensive leaf mat floating on the water surface, facilitate the incorporation of high concentrations of CO2, ease of fertilization, and capture of wastewater contaminants.
